And another one...

I have Biggie stuck in my head so you'll have to forgive me.

So this week on Misery Competition the topic was "hope." My last entry was like a warm-up to get my brain going (so was my last entry to the competition) but this is my finished piece. Well, I'm not going to post the finished work here, you'll have to go over to MC to check it out.

Seriously, go check it out.

Now I present to you, for your viewing pleasure (and for you to viciously rip apart) "Hope" pencil, ink, water color, and acrylic.
This is just the pencil.
This is with some ink, and watercolor.
More water color.
More ink, more water color, and almost finished.

In the interim of "real" updates of paintings or finished illustrations I'm gonna post the fun sketches for
This one I might actually finish coloring. The one below I might rework except make the girl more girl cartoony. Oh and add a lil' text too it. Regardless I have another idea for hope too that's more traditional.

Kind of a redirect.

While I've been working I am kind of reluctant to post what I'm working on here, for fear of getting negative results and then not going through with my plan.

Sounds like me right?

Anyways so instead of showing my work I'm going to link to another blog I started and thanks to a couple of friends who do a myriad of creative things has a bunch of really cool stuff to see.

Please go check out:

It's totally worth it.

An experiment of sorts.

I'm not sure if the experiment was a success or not. I'm going to say something terribly cliche and therefore I apologize in advance. I am my own worst critic.

What I'm going to post for your judgment is the original sketch and the same sketch digitally inked by myself. I've never done this before, this is for a "contest" for (there stuff is AWESOME, thank you Meg for showing me)

This is the first time I've used my Wacom tablet to ink something instead of just drawing something brand new with it. So seriously, leave some feed back!
Above is obviously the original sketch (at 72dpi). You can see where I got bored of drawing/anxious to try digital inking.

Here's my attempt at digital inking it's real size is 11"x17", and at 72dpi it's not too bad. However at 300dpi it looks like I asked Michael J. Fox to ink it. Maybe I should get tested to make sure I don't have MS like Teenwolf.

Anyway, lemme know what you guys think!

Also here's the image of the monster I included in my illustration:

So while I feel like I've had no time to myself, in all actuality I've had a ton and come up with some great ideas and actually finished a painting.

Here it is, from a multitude of different views. Lemme know what you think!

"Siddown an' Shaddap"
Water based Oils and Acrylic on Canvas
Above is the finished version and the best photograph I could take. I know I've said it here before but I'm an absolutely awful photographer. Anyone who wants to come take pictures of my work please do! 'Cuz I suck at it. Below is the same painting and mainly the same photo as well just with the flash on. 'Cuz I suck.
This is just for size comparison. The actual size is 36" (h) x 30" (w)
This is how I add the "drips." I'm sure there's a technical term for this but I don't know it. So they're drips. Also this is the point where see all the mistakes I've made an instead of fixing them I just embrace them.
The painting is resting on my painting sweatshirt. In the winter obviously I paint while wearing it and I use it to clean my brushes. During the summer however it also doubles as a drop cloth.

This should be impressive.

Or the complete opposite of impressive.

Either way this is going to be a huge update. It was kinda cool to go through and see all the stuff I didn't scan in, and there's a lot more of it. I'm just lazy.

Or it's on loose pieces of paper floating around my apartment or in my classroom.

In other words. I'm just lazy.

So I'm gonna try to explain what each page is, should be entertaining to see me try to explain my mental diarrhea.

So this is me sketching while on my way to a business meeting in Manhattan. I just wanted to get my pen moving and when I can't think of what to draw, I draw three things (and if you flip through the blog you'll see them OFTEN). 1) Eyeballs with forks in them. 2) Womens faces. 3) A tag/throw up I may or may not have used depending on the statue of limitations. Also people were watching me so I was very self conscious and nervous.

Have I mentioned I'm a hermit/shut-in? I am.

This is kind of what the meeting was about, without divulging too much information. It will be a simple yet fun and extremely engaging MMO for smart phones (which only make up 10% of the cell phone market). It's a great idea, and theoretically it could make us fantastically rich. The chances of that happening are slim, but it would RULE!
This sketch and the next two or three are all characters in a book I was writing for NaNoWriMo. If you don't know what that is, its National Novel Writers Month, or is it writing? I'm not sure. I'd Google it but as previously stated I'm lazy. Regardless it's a young adult book about a world within our world. I actually started it on my no-longer existent blog but kept going. I still haven't finished it.

This is one of the characters, he was the first one I saw in my head, and so far the last one I've introduced. If it ever gets finished and if I like it, I will post it here or send you a digital copy should you ask for one.
Another character in the book. You can see some of the notes about the character, what you can't see is that compared to the first sketch, this guy is supposed to come up to Twumbly's waist. At the most.
This is the character I created, and then later had to figure out what he looked like. He's a little creepy looking but my description of him makes him seem far more friendlier and less like the dude from Labrynth.

Good movie. I'm gonna go watch that after I update.

Crumbly is kind of the guide for the main character who's just an ordinary human kid in this bizarre fantasy world. Which is stuff I'm obsessed with like the aforementioned Labrynth, but also Neverwhere, Charles de Lint's Newford series, Gaiman's Sandman, and Alice in Wonderland. You get the idea.
I like drawing zombies and I like drawing snakes. Also my symbol is on the bottom right hand side. I've been drawing it since I was 7.
This is me trying to figure out how characters in my webcomic are going to look. The downside is I've got what I think is a funny/great beginning and have NO IDEA where to go next. If you want to help let me know, but be forewarned the humor is crass and offensive.

Shitting dick nipples.

If that offended you, or confused you, you don't want to write this. If it didn't, please comment and we can work shit out.

So yesterday I put up a picture, and I haven't done a TON of work but here's a quick update of the painting and a new page of my sketchblog.

Seriously, just lemme know what you think.

Also while painting I've been listening to White Chapel, All Shall Perish, Salt the Wound, Through the Eyes of the Dead. While drawing on the other hand I've been listening to Mos Def, Black Star, Erykah Badu, and A Tribe Called Quest.

The beginning of...something?

So yea two days in a row! Wow!

I'm almost a real person now.

I should probably stop writing in sentence fragments and not be such good friends with the return key if I want to be considered a real person.

I'm safe for now.

Anyways, I started a new painting last night and this is what it looked like in the morning.

This might look familiar to you, especially if you read this blog with any frequency at all (like at least as much as I update it). Instead of posting the image of the drawing I did of it you can just scroll through the past posts and find it. Or you can can go to my facebook page and read the blog there too!

Seriously it's not hard. The link is right on the top right side of the page. No excuses. No one is that fat or lazy.

Speaking of being lazy, I just got around to downloading a bunch of the Black Keys albums. Holy crap. So good. I highly recommend it.

On the other hand while painting this I was listening to Salt the Wound.

Holy jeebus. I totally forgot to update this thing. I've been drawing!

I swear!

I swear on my puppy's life!

Anyone who knows how unhealthily obsessed I am with my dog will know that I'm not kidding around. I mean it.

Anybody want a peanut?

Princess Bride references...yea. It's been a while. This isn't all of it, but it is all of my sketchbook. Anyways let me step aside and put my artwork where my mouth is.
