Yea

I've been really shitty about updating. I mean better than last year right? That counts for something?

Steady improvement.

Anyways here's another toy I cranked out today. Again just playing with Posca Markers (@Iksentrik sells them)and this time it was a glow in the dark Munny. I can't find my camera so these are taken with my phone, and therefore I can't take any with the lights off.

And...here....we.....GO!

Stupid life.

Stupid me. Stupid scanner. Stupid time and not having it because my awesome job is being a stupid with awesome and I'm staying stupid late because I'm stupid and I want too.

However, in the 4 minutes of free time yesterday I drew a doodle. Today instead of reading the comics I bought, I inked/colored it. It's taking me too long. So I'm probably doing something wrong.

Because I'm stupid.

I'm also totally burnt out. Is it obvious?

Again..

It's been a while and I apologize for being shitty about updating. However again I swear I've been busy. I have a lot more coming and I wanted to participate in NaNoWriMo this year but it just isn't happening. No time.

Anyways, I just got some Posca markers because I want to draw at Iksentric (in the UK) and not make a total ass out of myself by not knowing how to use 'em. So I created a Qee, and for those of you who aren't obsessed with vinyl toys, consider yourself lucky and unfortunate that I will now educate you. They are toys made from vinyl, and a lot of modern/pop/low-brow artists are creating toys, both limited edition and unlimited for collectors of art it's a great affordable way to get a hold of some artwork. For the collectors of things (such as myself) it's a great way to find a new obsession of "rare" and "exotic" figures.

The craze started in Japan and then quickly leap frogged into the US and now it's a world wide disease. A disease I full endorse. I guess I should also mention that a few years ago Ryan from Iksentric was nice enough to put on an exhibition full of these modified vinyl toys and allowed me to put 2 toys into the show.

Enough with my mumblings and musings. Here's the pictures of the toy I made (in the same vein as my sketchbook)!

More Sketchbooks

Ok, first off I told the people in my last post who won (its in the comments) so if you won you might wanna make sure I have your address so I can send you a money order for $20.

After that, this weekend is New York Comic Con (NYCC) and I'm totally stoked for it. I'll be there on Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday I'm going to a Webcomic Bootcamp put on by Scott Kurtz (PVP) and Brad Guigar (Greystone Inn/Webcomics.com). To say I'm nervous is an understatement. They're going to look at our work and critique it, if I get ANY positive feedback I'll shit bricks and most definitely put up a web comic. However if I'm verbally raped, you might need a forensic team to find the all of the shattered pieces of my ego.

I'm mentally preparing for the later but hoping for the first.

Anyways here's 3 or so more pages of moleskin sketchbook. Lemme know what you think and if you think you know where I started post it in the comments and maybe I'll send you some phat lewtz.

Stay up!

Oh also I'm going to be broadcasting my desktop in a little bit the URL for that is http://www.livestream.com/peetsketches

A contest

To the person who can figure out exactly where on the page I started drawing these doodles. For every right answer, $20.

Simple.

I'm broke, so don't get it twisted I'm just confident that you won't figure it out. For two reasons.
1) No one ever comments.
2) There aren't any hints in the drawing themselves.

It's pure train of thought. The only person who's NOT allowed to guess is my co-worker who doesn't read my blog anyway.

School..

School is for fools, and that's probably the reason I'm a teacher. Either to stop the fools from being fools or because I am a fool. I'll let you decide.

In either case, I decided to buy a little tiny pocket sized moleskin sketchbook about a month ago. I was buying something at Barnes and Nobles (probably a Warhammer40k book) and it was there staring me in the face on the impulse buy line. It was a 3 pack of these little buggers, the fit perfectly inside pants pockets and I barely know its there.

So everyday I've been trying to draw a little doodle. Just something for fun, and to keep my mind occupied. I would also be lying if I didn't mention Jon Burgerman being a major influence in this realm.

I now present to you, my mental droppings. Enjoy or despise.

My Saturday Night

Some people, scratch that, most people are out doing some with other people. Fortunately I havent left this room other than walking the dog or going to the bathroom.

I have no life, and aside from missing the wife, this is fun for me. Though it wouldnt hurt to have other people around.

Nth Man

The Nth Man is a FANTASTIC comic, and I have bought all the issues I didn't buy when I was a kid online so I have the complete set. Yesterday instead of leaving my house, I decided to make myself massively depressed and took all my comic books out and started reading them.

Nth Man was something my father probably encouraged me to read, but I'm not sure. It's got all the cold war stuff I definitely didn't get when I was a kid, but it also has ninja's so I might have bought it myself. Anyway it's only 16 issues long and I get to the 16th issue when I turn the second page to find out half the page has been cut out of page 3, 7, and 16. I shit bricks. I can kind of half ass guess the ending but I'm not sure. The ending's a little week anyways because the book probably wasn't selling well and it feels rushed. But regardless I love it and I'm pissed I have to re-buy issue 16.

That being said, being a shut in caused me to peruse the internet for something other than pornography and I strolled through a few artists blogs and flikr streams. Then I mentally beat myself up for not making more art and not making ANY money from doing what I love. After that...well I used the internet and I'll leave that up to your imagination.

Today I didn't leave the house at all again, and watched football. Now I should preface this by stating that I like football but I don't LOVE football, however I turn the games on and watch 'em while drawing or sleeping. During the Giants game I drew the "ALL THEY SEE IS CRIME IN THE CITY" sketch, and during the Eagles game I drew the following pages. I was playing with markers because the crime in the city sketch ruined the next page.

I tried something new and then fell back onto my comfort zone. I'm going to ask everyone to let me know what they think but I know only Rita will. <3

Wow

Just found this video. And...just wow.

Anyone who's visited my apartment knows that I have a huge EL MAC print hanging in my kitchen. I spent like a grand getting the bitch framed.

Here's a video of a mural he did with another writer named RETNA. It's gorgeous:

Misery Competition

All of the posted links are SFW.

I feel like I really did a lame thing this week in not really pushing the boundaries of what I could do. The topic is the 1980's. For whatever reason I just couldn't think of anything to do. Which is retarded because there's so many different things you can do. So much creativity came out of the Reaganomics depression.

Anyways, what I came up with is based off of a SKEME piece. I saw it on a documentary called Style Wars that kind of blew my mind and ruined my perceptions.

Here's the original piece:

And here's my version from the safety of my sketchbook, which is why I feel like it's a cop out. I should have gotten out and wrote in the city. Instead I did this from the safety of my couch while watching football.

The best part about SKEME is that he's still writing.

Kinda update

But not MASSIVE updates. Just finished digital inks and color swatch test.

More "peet's process" than anything else. Hopefully someone, someday, anybody will actually give a shit.
I'm not so stoked on the the laser blasts, but everything out is kinda cool.

My eyes..they hurt

So friggen badly. It's probably from the computer monitor, or the way my desk light gets reflected BACK into my face when I'm drawing. Either way..I'm totally stoked to see that my phone can post updates.

I LOVE THE MOTOROLA DROID!

Even though I kinda want the new r2d2 droid.

Anyways, so the last entry was just a picture of my sketchbook and the sketch I was working on. I got off my lazy butt this "morning" (I woke up at noon) and scanned in the drawing and my sketchbook.

Here they are, later today or tomorrow I'll post the digitally inked/colored versions.

Also thanks to Rita for ALWAYS commenting, unlike the rest of you lurkers.

And here's the same exact thing, just twisted so you don't have to crane your neck to see.

And here's the final sketch below.

Just checking to see if I can update via phone. Especially if I can do this during the school year.

And another one...

I have Biggie stuck in my head so you'll have to forgive me.

So this week on Misery Competition the topic was "hope." My last entry was like a warm-up to get my brain going (so was my last entry to the competition) but this is my finished piece. Well, I'm not going to post the finished work here, you'll have to go over to MC to check it out.

Seriously, go check it out.

Now I present to you, for your viewing pleasure (and for you to viciously rip apart) "Hope" pencil, ink, water color, and acrylic.
This is just the pencil.
This is with some ink, and watercolor.
More water color.
More ink, more water color, and almost finished.
